About Collins Custom Homes

Building runs in our blood. For over 25 years, we've been proving that custom homes don't have to come with the complications.

Lucas Collins started building during college. What began as paychecks from weekend construction jobs turned into something larger when he realized most builders treated custom homes like assembly line work. They didn't care about the details. They didn't explain decisions. When homeowners asked questions, they got vague answers and surprise bills. So Lucas went out on his own, determined to do it differently.

The early projects were smaller, but they proved something. When you actually talk to your clients before making decisions, when you know finish carpentry the same way you know framing, when you treat a home like it matters—the work speaks. Word spread through the valley. Then his sons came into the business, bringing their own expertise and energy. They'd grown up on job sites, understood the craft, and inherited the same obsession with getting it right.

Being both interior finish carpenters and general contractors isn't common. It changes everything. We see a wall framing stage and already know exactly how the finish carpentry will play out. We can design solutions that actually work, not solutions that create problems downstream. We know where the pipes go, where the electrical needs to run, how the materials will age. That knowledge lets us promise things other builders can't.

'The best conversations about a home happen before the first nail is driven. That's when we listen, ask questions, and make sure everyone understands what's coming.'

— Lucas Collins, Founder

What 25 Years Built In Us

We've learned that clear communication matters more than any material. Years ago, we had a client who didn't understand why a particular finish option cost more. Instead of just charging the difference, we sat down with photos, samples, and a timeline of what each choice meant for the home's durability. That conversation took an hour. The client felt respected. They made an informed decision. They trusted us for the next phase. Now, that's standard for us—not because it's good marketing, but because we've seen what happens when homeowners feel confused or blindsided.

We've learned that hidden costs don't exist in our company because they'd only come back as resentment. Every line item, every change, every decision gets discussed first. Not to sell more work, but to avoid the ones that don't actually matter. A client once asked about upgraded hardware on cabinetry. We talked through it, showed samples, and honestly said the standard option would serve them fine. They appreciated the honesty. They upgraded anyway—but this time because they chose to, not because we pushed.

We've learned that the best sub-contractors, designers, and suppliers make our work exponentially better. We don't work with everyone—we work with people who care about outcomes, not just invoices. When your electrician has worked with your framing crew on dozens of projects, those trades communicate without being told. Problems get caught early. Solutions happen faster. The homeowner just notices that things run smoothly.

What It Feels Like Working With Us

You'll notice it in the first meeting. We ask a lot of questions because we actually want to know how you live, what matters to you, where you see yourself in this home. We explain things in plain language, not construction jargon. When decisions need to be made, we present options with context—why we're suggesting something, what tradeoffs exist, what our experience tells us works.

Throughout the build, you'll have access to us. Questions get answered. Progress gets photographed. Changes get discussed before they happen, not discovered afterward. It's not complicated—it's just respectful, and it's how we've built homes for a quarter century.

If you're building a custom home in the valley and you want a contractor who knows both how to frame it and finish it right, who'll talk straight with you, and who treats your home like it matters—let's talk. That's what we do.
